Ship in a Bottle

Sails lay flat against fresh paint –
close in on a miniature landscape
of tiny white churches and lighthouses.
A tug on the string and the sheets fall
into place. The scene is set. Still.
A preserved view, safe from the winds.

A side note: my granddad made ships in bottles and both my mother and I have one on our shelves that he had made.
