Love Samuel Beckett. I used to live near Montparnasse cemetary in Paris – sometimes used to go there to visit his grave. (Often there’d be a pen that someone placed on it).
Sadly the only trip I’ve made to Paris was an art tour and so I missed out on both the cemetaries and catacombs – both of which I’d love to go back and see one day. I love the idea of leaving a pen for SB!
Visited the same cemetary a week after Serge Gainsbourg died. His grave was bedecked by flowers, whisky, cigarettes . . . and a crowd of mourners who wouldn’t leave. Went to the catacombs as well – watch out for an interesting entry on my Notebook site. (Might be a long time coming, though. It was in the 90’s and I’m only on 1977!).
